I-35 will close from approximately 10pm on the night of Friday the 12th and through 5am on Monday the 15th to facilitate demolition of the pedestrian bridge over I-35. This will force a detour of Routes 103 and 109 in both directions during this project. Additionally, Route 110 will likely experience significant congestion between Downtown and the Blatnik Bridge but will not need to detour.
Route 103 and 109 to Downtown: Buses will follow I-35 Northbound until exit 255, take that exit and then keep to the left to turn towards NB-53/Piedmont/21st Ave E. After the lights take the exit to 20th Ave W/1st St, turn left on 1st St to join the 1st St Point of Rocks detour following 1st St to 6th Ave W, turn right and downhill on 6th Ave W to Superior St, turn left onto Superior St and follow current routing to DTC.
Route 103 and 109 From Downtown: Buses will follow Superior St to 6th Ave W taking the Point of Rocks detour to 21st Ave W, detour by turning onto the ramp to South 53/South I-35, take the ramp to the Southbound I-35 exit and take that to resume regular route on I-35 SB

Blue Line Summer Schedule

103 Summer Schedule

Updated 112 Schedule

Updated 211 Schedule

Blue Line ends on the East Side at 24th Ave E and Superior St. Service to UMD temporarily paused for summer.  Riders are advised to use 103, 104, 105, 106, and 112 to access UMD.

On the west side of Duluth, Blue Line will stay on Grand avenue for the duration of the summer.

Route 103 will not serve Morely Heights, but will provide service on Snively Rd. It will express (using I-35) from Downtown to 40th Avenue west.

Route 103 will follow the same detour as blue line from 46th and Grand to 40th avenue West and W Superior St.

Route 112 gets approximately a ten-minute earlier shift across the board to improve connectivity with all other routes.

211 receives approximately 1 minute shifted between a couple time points to improve route timeliness but is largely very much the same. One time point has been removed from the listings to improve route timeliness as well, but the routing has not changed just the listing of the time point.

The hand updated hand schedules for the Blue Line and Route 103 will be marked with orange to indicate they are the temporary summer versions of these schedules, which we plan to revert to more familiar routing as construction concludes in the fall. These and the other two hand schedules will be available on our service alerts webpage as well to preview.  Below is a system map reflecting the shortened Blue Line routing, along with the modified express service for route 103:

Detour Resource Reminder: Tools to get accurate information on detours and other service modifications

CLICK FOR DETAILS CLICK FOR LESS
Detour Resource Reminder:
We have had a few folks reach out about detours not showing up in our mobile apps or trip planning tools.
Currently, we can only modify routes on these tools 4 times a year when we are updating the system to include changes to the work our Bus Operators perform, and changes to the routing.
We are in the midst of upgrading some software to allow real time changes to the system to be shown in these tools, and aim to include that feature in the near future.
In the mean-time, our “Service Alerts” page at www.DuluthTransit.com is the primary resource for information on detours and temporary routing changes.
Additionally, closed bus stops will have a QR code that will bring you to the Service Alerts page detailing detours and providing maps in most cases.
Further, the Transit app will show an alert that there is modified service on a route you have selected (see screenshot) which will indicate that there is likely a detour or change to the route.
At the bottom of that page you can also sign up for e-mail alerts which will keep you informed of these changes as they occur.
In most cases, there is also signage to indicate temporary stops along detours, and/or signage that outlines the nature of the detour.
We appreciate your patience as we all navigate a particularly challenging detour season, and look forward to offering even more resources to get the latest information as we move forward.
