6th Avenue East Detour Update (Routes 105-106  / Green Line) 9/19 Information

Routes 105 and 106:

As of Wednesday, September 17th our 6th AE detour for Routes 105
and 106 will be as follows, with the only major change being we’ll
use 7th AE instead of 6th AE between 4th St. and 3rd St. when
inbound.

From Downtown (To UMD): Regular route to 6th AE and 4th St., then
detour by turning right onto 4th St. and run to 10th AE, turn left on 10th
AE and run to 9th St., turn right on 9th St. and resume regular route.

From UMD (To Downtown): Regular route to 9th St and 10th AE,
then detour by turning left on 10th AE and run to 4th St, turn right and
run to 7th AE, turn left and run to 3rd St. turn right and regular route to
downtown.

Green Line:

As of Wednesday, September 17th our 6th AE detour for the Green Line will be as follows, with the only change being the use of 7th AE when inbound instead of 6th AE between 4th St. and 3rd St.:

Green Line To Mall: Regular route to 6th AE and 4th St, then detour by turning left on 4th St. and run to 4th AE, turn right and follow to 7th St., turn left and follow to Mesaba Ave., turn right and follow to Central Entrance, turn left and resume regular route

Green Line To Downtown: From Central Entrance just before Mesaba Ave carefully serve the stop even with 11th St (in the right turn lane) as needed and remain in the turn lane to turn right down Mesaba Ave, then follow reverse of To Mall directions to 4th St. Continue along 4th St to 7th AE, turn right and run to 3rd St., turn right and continue to downtown on regular route.
During this detour Green Line should service any stops that overlap with Routes 104 and 114.

Service Alert:

All UMD routing (with the exception of Route 105) will return to normal today, Saturday, September 13th at 2:00pm. Boardings will again occur in the Kirby Plaza hub for all
Other routes.

105 will continue as follows:

Route 105 (From Downtown/To UMD): Regular route to 19th Avenue East and College Street, then detour by turning Right on College St and follow to University Dr, turn Left on University Dr and proceed to St. Marie St, turn left on St. Marie St and follow to Kirby Dr, turn left onto Kiby Dr to resume regular route.

Route 105 (To Downtown/From UMD): Reverse of To UMD directions.

Routes 107 and 108 Detour at 24th Avenue West Begins Monday, September 15th

On Monday September 15^th, 2025, continuing lead pipe replacement projects will close 24^th Ave W from 9^th St to Superior St for approximately 3 weeks. This closure will not include the cross streets, only the Avenue itself up to each cross street.

This will create a detour for Routes 107 and 108 as described below. Temporary stops will be placed on 53/ Walter F. Mondale Dr near Skyline Parkway, 12^th St, 10^th St, 22^nd Ave W, and 7^th St, as well as near intersections with 21^st Ave W and 6^th, 5^th, and 4^th St. Transfer requests normally sent to 24^th and 3^rd should instead be sent to 21^st and 2^nd.

Routes 107 and 108 Towards Mall: Regular route to 21^st Ave W and 1^st St, detour by turning right onto the ramp for 53/ Walter F. Mondale Dr merge onto 53/ Walter F. Mondale Dr and proceed to Piedmont Ave. At Piedmont Ave:

Route 108: turn left to resume regular route.

Route 107: proceed straight to resume regular route

Routes 107 and 108 Towards Downtown: Reverse of Towards Mall instructions

Update Effective Thursday, September 11th: Changes to 105 and 112 Routing:

105 To UMD: Regular route to 19th Ave E and College St, detour by turning right on
College St, follow College St until Woodland Ave and left, follow Woodland Ave until
the unnamed road/driveway in between Qdoba and Jimmy Johns.

105 From UMD: Routing will leave Kirby Plaza, proceed to Woodland Ave and turn left, follow Woodland Ave to College St and turn
right, follow College St until 19th Ave E and turn left to resume regular route.

112 To Woodland: Regular route to Kirby Dr and College St, detour by continuing
straight on College St, follow College St until Woodland Ave and turn left, follow
Woodland Ave to resume regular route.

112 To Mall: Regular route to Woodland Ave and St. Marie St, detour by continuing
straight on Woodland Ave until College St, turn right onto College St and follow to
resume regular route.

**All other routing will continue as described in Monday;s UMD area detour announcement**

MAP OF CHANGES

Service Alert:

One-Way Garfield to Blatnik Bridge Detour (Route 110) Begins Wednesday, June 11th.

Beginning Wednesday June 11th, access to the Blatnik
Bridge from Garfield Ave heading towards Superior, WI will
be temporarily closed. Route 110 will need to detour in the
“To Superior WI” direction, and will do so as follows:

Route 110 to Superior WI: Regular route to W Superior St
at the Incline Station bus stop. Please pause at this stop and
announce to passengers on board that this is the last stop
until Superior WI due to detour then follow W Superior St to
merge onto I-35 SB follow to 535 Wisconsin exit to Blatnik
Bridge and follow to resume regular route.

Route 110 to Duluth: No detour needed.

This detour is reportedly going to last several months.

Significant 6th Ave E Detour Begins Wednesday, June 11th (Green Line, 105, and 106)

Service alert:

6th Avenue East Detour Update. Original detour still applies with Green Line Changes beginning Monday, August 11th:

Beginning on Monday August 11th further efforts on the 6th Ave East project will close 6th Ave E from just above 4th St to 9th Street. At this time, we will plan on maintaining service at the 6th Ave E and 3rd stop for the To Mall direction and
make a stop directly after turning onto 6th Ave E from 4th St on the To
Downtown direction.

This will force Green Line to detour as follows:
Green Line To Mall: Current detour routing until 6th Ave E and 4th St, detour on 4th St, follow 4th St to 4th Ave E and turn right, follow 4th Ave E to 7th St and turn left, follow 7th St to the lefthand ramp onto Mesaba Ave,follow Mesaba Ave and use the rightmost of the 2 left turn lanes to turn left onto Central Entrance to resume regular route

Green Line To Downtown: From Central Entrance just before Mesaba Ave will serve the stop even with 11th St (in the right turn lane) as needed andremain in the turn lane to turn right down Mesaba Ave, then follow reverse ofTo Mall directions.

During this detour Green Line will service any stops that overlap with Routes 104 and 114. We may need to adjust the temporary stops after we
confirm the setup of the closures in the area and will update as needed for anytemporary stop placement.

This detour is expected to last until the beginning of October.

From Downtown (To UMD): Regular route to 6th Ave E and
4th St and then detour by turning right onto 4th St, follow 4th
St to 8th Ave E and turn left onto 8th Ave E, follow 8th Ave E
to 9th St and turn right to resume regular route. Please see
the temporary stop notice below

From UMD (To Downtown): Reverse of From Downtown
instructions. Please see the temporary stop notice following.

To UMD routing should serve the stop next to Whole foods
at the corner of 4th and 7th Ave E, but NOT the next block at
8th so we can execute a safe left turn on the busier street.
The detoured routes will have a temporary stop on 8th Ave E
between 4th and 5th St as well as near 7th St and 9th St.

To Downtown routing we will place stops near 7th St and
5th St, and please serve the 104 stop at 7th Ave E on 4th St

5th St East End Superior Detour Begins Monday June 2nd

Beginning Monday, June 2, a major road project will start on 5th Street in
Superior’s East End neighborhood, expected to continue through most
of the summer. As a result, Route 111 will be detoured.

Temporary stops will be in place, and we will need to provide at least one
day’s notice before returning to the regular route. We are coordinating
with project managers and will update the public as the project nears
completion.

From Downtown to Itasca: Regular route to East 5th St and 24th Ave
East, detour by turning left on 24th Ave, follow to 4th St and turn right onto
4th St, follow until 31st Ave and turn left to resume regular route
From Itasca to Downtown: Reverse of “to Itasca” directions
