DULUTH, MINNESOTA (May 30, 2019) – The Duluth Transit Authority (DTA) and the Lake Superior Zoo will host a joint press conference on Monday, June 3, 2019 at 9:30 a.m. on the grounds of the Lake Superior Zoo located at 7210 Fremont St, Duluth, MN 55807.

DTA General Manager, Phil Pumphrey, and Lake Superior Zoo Chief Executive Officer, Erik Simonson, will make statements announcing their Community Marketing Partnership. A new co-branded bus wrap will also be unveiled at the event. The design of this bus wrap features the Lake Superior Zoo’s new logo and promotes the DTA’s convenient service to the community attraction located in West Duluth.

DULUTH, MINNESOTA (May 18, 2019) – At approximately 12:48 p.m. on Saturday, May 18, 2019, a Duluth Transit Authority (DTA) bus was involved in an accident with a pedestrian at 3rd Avenue West and Superior Street. The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital for treatment. This accident is currently under investigation by the Duluth Police Department (DPD), the Minnesota State Patrol and the DTA. More information will be provided to the public as it develops and is confirmed.

Please note that DTA Route 20 and Route 22 will be completely discontinued effective 8/25/19.

DULUTH, MINNESOTA (May 30, 2019) – The Duluth Transit Authority (DTA) Board of Directors approved service changes at their monthly meeting on Wednesday, May 29, 2019 to Route 20 and Route 22 that will be effective August 25, 2019. These routes will be completely discontinued.

The DTA Board of Directors also approved a proposed pilot route that will loop through the Bayfront area and added a morning trip to Route 5. These service changes will also be effective August 25, 2019.

DULUTH, MINNESOTA (April 3, 2019) – The Duluth Transit Authority (DTA) Board of Directors approved service changes to Routes 20, 21, and 22 at their monthly meeting on Wednesday, March 27th that will be effective June 2, 2019. DTA service for Routes 5 and 23 will be unchanged.

Route Service Details:

  • Route 5 will be unchanged.
  • Route 23 will be unchanged.
  • Route 21 will be discontinued.
  • Route 20 service will change to two morning trips “From Downtown” and two afternoon trips “To Downtown.” Routing will be adjusted to Central Entrance from 6th Avenue East to Pecan Avenue.
  • Route 22 will be bidirectional hourly service from London Road and 26th Avenue East through downtown Duluth to Lincoln Park middle School (LPMS). The first trip departs downtown for LPMS at 7:15 a.m. with the last trip departing LPMS at 1:34 p.m. After 1:34 p.m., Route 22 will be 30-minute service between the Duluth Transportation Center (DTC) and London Road up to 26th Avenue East until the last trip departs the DTC at 8:46 p.m.

DULUTH, MINNESOTA (April 4, 2019) – The Duluth Transit Authority (DTA) will detour Bus Routes 6, 7, 10H, 11, 12, 13, 20, 22 traveling to-and-from the Duluth Transportation Center (DTC) effective Monday, April 8, 2019. This detour is due to Phase II of the Superior Street Reconstruction Project. The initial stage of Phase II will close Superior Street from Lake Avenue to just west of 3rd Avenue East. This detour will last until the initial stage of Phase II is completed. The DTA will update this Superior Street reconstruction detour once the second stage of Phase II begins causing the closure of 3rd Avenue East.

The initial DTA detour for Phase II of the Superior Street Reconstruction project will be as follows…

Outbound (From DTC) to Routes 6, 7, 10H, 11, 12, 13, 20 & 22:

Regular route to Superior Street and Lake Avenue then detour via left on Lake Avenue to 2nd St., right on 2nd St. and back to regular route.

Route 22:

Detour routing to 2nd St. and 3rd Ave. E. then down 3rd Ave. E. to Superior Street and back to regular route.

Inbound (To DTC) from the east:

All buses using 3rd Ave. E. will detour via regular route to 3rd Ave. E. and 1st St., then continue on 1st St, (or right on 1st St. if coming down 3rd Ave. E. from 3rd St.) to 2nd Ave. W., left on 2nd Ave. W. to Superior Street, right on Superior Street and then regular route to DTC.

Route 22: Regular route to 3rd Ave. E. and Superior Street then 3rd Ave. E. to 1st St. and detour routing.
