Downtown Sidewalk Days Detour

The annual DOWNTOWN SIDEWALK DAYS sponsored by the Greater Downtown Council will be held on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, July 10 – 12.  The detours listed and hours that they encompass will change for each day of the event.

WEEKDAYS:

Superior Street will be closed from 5th Avenue West to Lake Avenue Wednesday thru Friday beginning at 8:00 a.m. and lasting until 6:00 p.m.

Detour #1:  For Wednesday (8am-3:30pm) Thursday and Friday (8am to 6pm)

INBOUND – To Downtown 1, 2, 3, 4, 8, 9MT, 11, 11M, 11K To Duluth 16 and To London Road 22:    Via regular route to Superior Street and 5^th Avenue West, then detour via right on 5^th Avenue West to Michigan Street, left on Michigan Street to DTC.

INBOUND – To Downtown 6, 7, 10H, 12, 13, 20, and To Lincoln Park 22 : Via regular route to 3^rd Avenue East and 1^st Street, then run 1^st Street to 5^th Avenue West, left on 5^th Avenue West to Michigan Street, Left on Michigan Street to DTC.

INBOUND – To Downtown 10 & 14W (trips that normally use Lake Avenue to Superior Street): Via regular route to Lake Avenue and 1^st Street, then right on 1^st Street to 5^th Avenue West, left on 5^th Avenue West to Michigan Street, Left on Michigan Street to DTC.

INBOUND – To Downtown Route 15 and Port Town Trolley: via regular route to South Lake Avenue and Railroad Street, then run Railroad Street to entrance ramp to 5^th Avenue West, 5^th Avenue West to Michigan Street, right on Michigan Street to DTC. The Port Town Trolley will continue regular route on Harbor Dr. from Railroad Street.

 OUTBOUND – From Downtown 1, 2, 3, 4, 8, 9 and From Duluth 16: From DTC run via 3^rd Avenue West to 1^st Street, left on 1^st Street to 5^th Avenue West, left on 5^th Avenue West to Superior Street, right on Superior Street and regular route.

OUTBOUND – From Downtown Route 15 & Port Town Trolley:  From DTC continue on Michigan Street to 1^st Avenue West, right on 1^st Avenue West to the Freeway Frontage Road, Right on Frontage Road to 5^th Avenue West, left on 5^th Avenue West to North I-35 entrance/Frontage Road, to access drive to Railroad Street, left on to Railroad Street to South Lake Avenue, right on South Lake Avenue and regular route.

OUTBOUND – From Downtown 6, 7, 10, 10H, 11, 11M, 11K, 12, 13, 14W, 20 and To London Road 22: From DTC run Michigan Street to 1^st Avenue West, left on 1^st Avenue West to 2^nd Street, right on 2^nd Street to Lake Avenue (10 and 14W), 3^rd Avenue East (22) 6^th Avenue East (10H, 11, 11M, 11K, 12, 13, 20) or 10^th Avenue East (6 & 7)

DETOUR #2:  Wednesday night Only (3:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.)

Due to a Car Show, 2^nd, 3^rd and 4^th Avenues West will be closed across Superior Street Wednesday from 3:30pm until 9pm. (Detour #2)

INBOUND – To Downtown 1, 2, 3, 4, 8, 9, 11, 11M, 11K To Duluth 16 and To London Road 22: Via regular route to Superior Street and 5^th Avenue West, then detour via right on 5^th Avenue West to Michigan Street, left on Michigan Street to DTC.

INBOUND – To Downtown 6, 7, 10H, 12, 13, 20, and To Lincoln Park 22 (Also Route 10 and 14W trips that use 3^rd Avenue East): Via regular route to 3^rd Avenue East and 1^st Street, then run 1^st Street to 5^th Avenue West, left on 5^th Avenue West to Michigan Street, Left on Michigan Street to DTC.

INBOUND – To Downtown 10 & 14W (trips that normally use Lake Avenue to Superior Street): Via regular route to Lake Avenue and 1^st Street, then right on 1^st Street to 5^th Avenue West, left on 5^th Avenue West to Michigan Street, Left on Michigan Street to DTC.

INBOUND – To Downtown Route 15 and Port Town Trolley: via regular route to South Lake Avenue and Railroad Street, then run Railroad Street to entrance ramp to 5^th Avenue West, 5^th Avenue West to Michigan Street, right on Michigan Street to DTC.

OUTBOUND – From Downtown 1, 2, 3, 4, 8, 9 and From Duluth 16: From DTC Turn right onto Michigan Street when exiting DTC, then run Michigan Street to 1^st Avenue West, right on 1^st Avenue West to Freeway Frontage Road, right on Frontage Road to 5^th Avenue West, right on 5^th Avenue West to Superior Street, left on Superior Street and regular route.

OUTBOUND – From Downtown Route 15 & Port Town Trolley:  From DTC continue on Michigan Street to 1^st Avenue West, right on 1^st Avenue West to the Freeway Frontage Road, Right on Frontage Road to 5^th Avenue West, left on 5^th Avenue West to North I-35 entrance/Frontage Road, to access drive to Railroad Street, left on to Railroad Street to South Lake Avenue, right on South Lake Avenue and regular route. The Port Town Trolley will continue regular route on Harbor Dr. from Railroad Street.

OUTBOUND – From Downtown 6, 7, 10, 10H, 11, 11M, 11K, 12, 13, 14W, 20 and To London Road 22: From DTC run Michigan Street to 1^st Avenue West, left on 1^st Avenue West to 2^nd Street, right on 2^nd Street to Lake Avenue (10 and 14W), 3^rd Avenue East (22) 6^th Avenue East (10H, 11, 11M, 11K, 12, 13, 20) or 10^th Avenue East (6 & 7)

Friday Night Street Dance:

A Street Dance will be held Friday night on 1^st Street from 6pm to Midnight between 1^st and 2^nd Avenues West.

Buses that normally utilize 1^st Street between 1^st and 2^nd Avenues West will detour via Lake Avenue to Superior Street during this time.

Saturday

DETOUR #3:  Saturday (4:00pm to Midnight)

A Street Dance will be held on the 100 Block West of Superior Street (Between 1^st and 2^nd Avenues West).

OUTBOUND – From Downtown 6, 7, 10, 10H, 11K, 13, 14W, 15, Port Town Trolley: From DTC run Michigan Street to 1^st Avenue West, left on 1^st Avenue West to Superior Street, right on Superior Street to Lake Avenue and then previous “Superior Street Construction detour (which uses Lake Avenue)

INBOUND – To Downtown Route 15: Regular Route to Lake Avenue and Superior Street, then continue on Lake Avenue to 1^st Street, left on 1^st Street to 2^nd Avenue West, left on 2^nd Avenue West to Superior Street, right on Superior Street to 3^rd Avenue West, left on 3^rd Avenue West to Michigan Street, left on Michigan Street to DTC.
