On Thursday, April 29th the 21st Street North viaduct that connects Tower Avenue to Billings Park will be closed to all traffic from 7am to 5pm. During this time Routes 17 and 17B will detour as follows:
Buses will run regular route to Tower Avenue and Belknap Street, then buses will turn right and follow Belknap to New York Avenue in Billings Park, turn left and run to 21st Street, turn left and run to Iowa Avenue, turn left and run to Belknap Street, turn right and run back to Tower Avenue. Route 17B will turn left on Tower. Route 17 will turn right and run to South Superior.
On the return trip from South Superior Route 17 will go directly to Tower and 14th. Route 17 will only make one trip thru Billings Park per round trip.
Due to the nature of this detour, schedule adherence will be difficult or impossible.
Passengers should expect buses will be unable to run on the posted schedule and therefore arrive early to the bus stop. Passengers on the inbound 17 trip that want to return to Billings Park should alight the bus at Tower and 14th, cross the street and board the Route 17 bus when it returns to Billings Park on the outbound trip.
