The Duluth Transit Authority is announcing a new looping route connecting Duluth’s downtown beginning in Spring 2020. As this route is designed to provide a valuable service to our community members, we thought would be fun to enlist the help of creative minds in our area to help name this new route!

Here are details about the naming criteria and how the contest will work:

  1. This new service will feature green buses with blue and white striping, which will help riders identify the specific buses as they navigate our new route.
  2. The service will be free for all riders, with service from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday
  3. The route will connect local healthcare facilities, parking structures, shopping and dining businesses, and all other vibrant downtown amenities.
  4. The winning name will capture the spirit of one or more key ideas, including:
  • Providing a free, convenient, and frequent service to all
  • Connecting our downtown area
  • The color of the buses (green)
  • The looping/circulating nature of the route
  • Connecting our downtown area

The contest is open to all members of the public, and each individual can submit up to three (3) entries. The space below the name entry area can be used to justify a name(s) with further explanation if so desired.  The submission round will run through the second week of December.

Five to ten finalists will be chosen by a naming committee, comprised of DTA representatives; at which point voting will commence here on to determine a champion. Prizes provided by local businesses will be awarded to the finalists, as well as randomly selected voters.  We can’t wait to see how creative your submissions will be!
