Senator Roger Reinert was recently presented with the Friend of Transit Award from the Minnesota Public Transit Association (MPTA).
The Friend of Transit Award is presented to individuals or organizations distinguishing themselves through exceptional leadership and service toward the development and improvement of public transit in Minnesota by policy or legislative initiatives.
Reinert was commended for his support of state-wide public transit initiatives, including Duluth’s Multimodal Transit Center.
MPTA was established in 1975 and has worked successfully to increase transit funding throughout the state, including the passage of the Transportation Amendment in 2006 which constitutionally dedicates sales tax revenues on motor vehicles to highways and transit services.
