DTA Will Temporarily Run Regular-Route Service from 3:30 to 6:00 p.m.

DULUTH, MINNESOTA (November 10, 2014) – The Duluth Transit Authority (DTA) has announced that it will temporarily run regular-route bus service from 3:30 to 6:00 p.m. in order for most passengers with a return trip home this afternoon, and persons should make every attempt to utilize the bus service before 6:00 p.m. DTA Emergency Mainline Service will then resume at 6:00 p.m. and will provide limited service along Grand Avenue and East Superior Street throughout the remainder of the day.
Please note that Route 14W is currently suspended and will not run the remainder of the day.
Regular-route bus service was suspended at 11:00 a.m. today due to snow and ice build-up on city streets. In particular, the hillside avenues which buses regularly use to travel to the hospitals, Miller Hill Mall, Duluth Heights, Piedmont, LSC, UMD and Woodland neighborhoods. DTA General Manager, Dennis Jensen, stated that when regular-route service was suspended this morning, DTA buses had been involved in several accidents caused by other vehicles sliding into DTA buses. These accidents were minor in nature and no injuries were reported.
He advises that some delays may be encountered due to freezing temperatures and continuing snow accumulation throughout the remainder of the day.
