Help for Small Businesses to Bid on Upcoming Construction Projects
Published: Expires: 12/4/2013
Construction firms and public agencies are seeking small businesses to bid on federally funded construction projects. Those businesses who register as a government contractor in the System for Award Management (SAM) can self-certify as a small business. Certified small businesses may be given preferential consideration when bidding on prime contracts and subcontracts for upcoming construction projects, including the new Multimodal Transit Center scheduled for construction beginning in spring of 2014 in downtown Duluth.
Note: This is a different certification than a Disadvantaged Business Enterprise; qualifications for this certification are based on the amount of revenue and the number of employees in the business.
The Duluth Transit Authority, together with the Duluth Builder’s Exchange, the UMD Center for Economic Development, the Small Business Administration, and the MN Procurement Technical Assistance Center will present an overview of the SBA requirements and provide help for businesses to register in the System for Awards Management (SAM). The workshop is free and open to everyone, regardless of location or type of business. Computers will be available for attendees to register in SAM.
The workshop will be held on Thursday, December 5, 2013 at 9:00 a.m. at the UMD Center for Economic Development:
UMD Center for Economic Development
11 East Superior Street
Duluth, MN 55802
