2018 Trolley Ridership Breaks Record

Published: Expires: 10/12/2018

DULUTH, MINNESOTA (September 12, 2018) – The Duluth Transit Authority’s (DTA) summer Port Town Trolley service exceeded expectations with annual ridership of 26,675. This is a record number of riders for the service which had a previous high of 18,556 in 2017.

This growth in ridership is mainly attributed to the service now being free along with operational changes such as the addition of a second trolley bus which increased trip frequency to every 15 minutes. The DTA also increased marketing activities targeting visitors to the area including digital billboards and backlit signs.
