DTA Sponsors Educational Workshop with UW-Superior

Published: Expires: 3/5/2014

The Duluth Transit Authority (DTA) will sponsor a workshop at the Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College (WITC). Small and disadvantaged businesses along with Veteran owned businesses are encouraged to attend.

DULUTH, MINNESOTA (February 28, 2014) – The Duluth Transit Authority (DTA) and Wisconsin’s Small Business Development Center at the UW – Superior will present an overview of the SBA requirements and provide help for businesses to register in the System for Awards Management (SAM). The event will take place on Wednesday, March 5, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. in the Conference Center at the Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College (WITC) located at 600 North 21st Street in Superior.

The workshop is FREE and open to the public, regardless of business location or type of business. However, reservations are requested. For more information, or to register by phone, please call 715-394-8351 or email sbdc@uwsuper.edu. Participants are invited to bring laptops for the registration exercises; computers will also be provided.

Construction firms and public agencies are seeking small businesses to bid on federally funded construction projects. Those businesses who register as a government contractor in the (SAM) can self-certify as a small business. Certified small businesses may be given preferential consideration when bidding on prime contracts and subcontracts for upcoming construction projects, including the DTA’s NEW Multimodal Transportation Center. This project’s construction is scheduled to begin in the spring of 2014 in downtown Duluth.

The DTA has received Federal financial assistance from the Department of Transportation, and as a condition of receiving this assistance, the DTA has signed an assurance that it will comply with 49 CFR Part 26. The DTA also supports and encourages participation of Veteran-owned concerns (including Service Disabled Veteran-owned concerns) in procurement actions.
