DTA Will Provide FREE Rides on Election Day 2014

DULUTH, MINNESOTA (November 3, 2014) – The Duluth Transit Authority (DTA) will provide all passengers riding fixed-route service free fares in Duluth on Tuesday, November 4, 2014.
This is in accordance with Section 39 of Chapter 312 of House File Number 3172 titled: Transit Service on Election Day. It states, “An eligible recipient of operating assistance under Minnesota Statutes, section 174.24, who contracts or has contracted to provide fixed route public transit shall provide fixed route public transit service free of charge on a day a state general election is held.”
Fare boxes will be covered with paper bags that state, “FREE RIDES VOTE TODAY!” Exclusions to the free fares include STRIDE service and passengers boarding DTA Routes 16 and 17 in Superior, WI. However, those who board Route 16 in Duluth with a destination of Superior, WI will still qualify for a free fare.
